Farm Visits, Group Tours, Talks and Open Houses
Common Ground is available as a resource to the community. Open houses and drop-in field work times are open to anyone interested in learning more about our farm project. See our Events page for specific dates and times.
Common Ground has created a farm tour/workday program available to groups that wish to come learn on the farm for just a day or for an extended period. This program involves a tour, learning about planting practices and equipment used in organic farming and offers hands-on learning. Through the day programs, participants learn about the benefits of organic production and the difference between this type of small scale farming, without the use of pesticides, and large scale corporate chemical farms. If you would like to arrange a group tour or visit at the farm or invite a Common Ground representative to your event, please contact us.
In the past we have hosted visits from the YRDC (Youth Development Research Corporation), Scenic Hudson, Jewish Farm School, and the Randolph School, among others. In addition, we have given talks for Stony Kill Environmental Center and the Verplank Garden Club.
Green Teens
Each summer Common Ground joins with other local farms in partnership with Cornell Co-operative Extension to participate in the Green Teen Community Gardening program for youth education.
