Opportunities abound and your help is needed!
As a member-run organization, this is a community effort and the farm’s success depends upon the participation of the membership. Members are needed to work on all aspects of the Farm, from planting and harvesting to organizing special events and educational programs.
If you signed up as a working member, you are required to put in a minimum of 15 hours of labor during the farming season for a full share and 10 hours for a small share. We encourage all members to contribute to the farm beyond the minimum requirement. It is your responsibility to log your work hours and make certain that you fulfill your work commitment by the end of the season. Any unfulfilled work hours will be billed at the end of the season.

- Harvesting -
Every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine, from 7am til 10am. This is a treasured job for many, who remark on how peaceful and beautiful it is in the morning on the farm. We need 6 or more harvesters on each morning.
- Field Work -
One Saturday each month from 10am til 4pm and various times during the week. In addition to harvesting, members are needed to help with all manner of work in the field, including planting, weeding and various other chores. And helping out in the field is not limited to harvest days!
- Distribution -
Every Tuesday and Friday from 3pm til 7:30pm. Distribution helpers set up the produce that was harvested in the morning and assist members as they arrive to pick up their share. This job involves greeting members and answering questions, keeping the bins full of produce, keeping the distribution area neat, and putting away produce when distribution is over. We need 1 person for each distribution. This is a great way to connect with your fellow members!
- Work Committees -
Common Ground work committees take on many of the day to day administrative tasks required to run our farm. Committees can be chaired by either a board member or member volunteer. Our current committees include Fundraising, Work Hours, Membership, Events, and Educational Workshops.
- Additional Opportunities -
Several key responsibilities are done by members who have taken on specific tasks such as bookkeeper, newsletter editor, website manager, recipe coordinator, and food pantry delivery person. To find out whether or not any of these positions are open, please contact the farm at membership@commongroundfarm.org
